PCA Senior Lindsey Hatfield Receives 2021 Golden Eagle Award
This past Friday, senior Lindsey Hatfield was honored as the Class of 2021 Golden Eagle during PCA’s Upper School Senior Chapel.
Each year, the Golden Eagle Award is given to an individual who displays exemplary character, good citizenship, outstanding academic performance, and active involvement in school activities. This individual is voted on and collectively chosen by Upper School staff and faculty. The Golden Eagle Award is PCA’s highest honor, taking into consideration a students’ character and involvement in and out of the classroom.
In introducing this year’s awardee, College Planning Director, Scott Sawyer said, “Our theme verse of this year was 1 Thessalonians 5:18, ‘give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.’ The Golden Eagle Award recipient is a student who has embodied this verse day in and day out. The senior class is full of qualified individuals who embody these characteristics of this Golden Eagle Award, but one of them, in particular, stands out.”
This year’s Golden Eagle was awarded to senior, Lindsey Hatfield. Hatfield is a PCA highest honors student, and has been recognized through multiple awards such as the Distinguished Leader Award, Teacher’s Choice Award, and has received the highest GPA in multiple classes. She has served as a small group leader, been involved in orchestra, volleyball, and softball.
“She’s always willing to jump in to help someone who’s hurting, whether she knows them well or not at all. She’s always the encourager, trying to lift the spirits of those around her positive attitude, amazing singing, and dancing, or just giving them her Cheez-It’s at lunch…” Sawyer said. “I’ve seen how Christ has influenced her life as I’ve seen how Christ reflected in her efforts for the school, her relationships with friends and family.”
Hatfield received the Golden Eagle plaque with her name engraved alongside recipients from previous years.
The PCA community congratulates Hatfield for this honorable recognition! You can view her graduation address here.
