Portsmouth Christian Academy Announces Top Seniors From the Class of 2024

DOVER, NH, MAY 28, 2024 — Portsmouth Christian Academy recognizes the top seniors from the Class of 2024.

Tatiana Stockbower, Valedictorian

Tatiana Stockbower is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2024. She is the daughter of David and Raquel Stockbower. She is from Dover, New Hampshire and will be attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. Tatiana is still deciding on a major but hopes to study international affairs and travel abroad.

Throughout her time at Portsmouth Christian Academy, Tatiana has maintained highest honors. She has served as a small group leader for the past three years and spearheaded many school events and fundraisers. Tatiana is also a Missions Club leader and served on two short-term mission trips to Puerto Rico in the past two years. She and a team of her classmates participated in manual labor and served the community there. Tatiana loved this opportunity and hopes to continue this type of work in the future.

Tatiana completed the Spanish program at Portsmouth Christian Academy and pursues proficiency through being a teacher’s assistant. She participated in Women’s Varsity Soccer and Basketball for four years, as well as club soccer and represented her state on the regional level. She was nominated for All-State three years in a row and competed in the Division IV State Championship. Tatiana also received the Portsmouth Christian Academy’s Varsity Soccer Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award for the past two years and the New Hampshire State Scholar Athlete Award.

Tatiana enjoys painting, drawing, cooking, and any activity that involves working with her hands. She worked at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living and currently works as a part-time nanny for three children.

Connor Hickey, Salutatorian

Connor Hickey is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2024.  He is the son of Jennifer and Aaron Hickey of South Berwick, Maine. Connor has accepted an appointment at the United States Coast Guard Academy and will be sworn in as a member of the Class of 2028 on July 1st.  The United States Coast Guard Academy is in New London, Connecticut, and is an accredited college educating future Coast Guard officers. Connor will major in Management at the Academy which provides academic emphasis on Leadership, Management, Finance, and Information Systems.  

Connor has maintained highest honors at Portsmouth Christian Academy for all four years and will be graduating as the salutatorian for the class of 2024. Connor has served as class president, Unity Prefect, small group leader and tutor during his time at Portsmouth Christian Academy.  He participated in a mission trip to Puerto Rico aiding underserved communities. Connor also received his biliteracy certificate in Spanish.

Connor played MLSNext soccer as a goalkeeper for Seacoast United throughout his high school career. He will join the roster at the USCGA and compete in D3 soccer in the NEWMAC conference. Connor also has a love for basketball and was a member of the varsity team at Portsmouth Christian Academy for four years.  He was an All-State selection in his junior and senior seasons and served as a team captain in his senior year.  

The remaining eight seniors are listed in alphabetic order and not by rank.

Erick Angwenyi

Erick Angwenyi is the son of Gilbert Angwenyi and Ruth Ogembo of Dover. Erick will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall and will pursue a degree in Business Administration. Erick was also accepted at Gordon College, Howard University, Liberty University, James Madison University, Merrimack College, and University of Massachusetts Amherst.  

Erick has maintained highest honors status while attending Portsmouth Christian Academy. Erick served as a Small Group Leader for three years and as Spiritual Life Prefect during his senior year. He is a prominent member of Portsmouth Christian Academy’s music program and was a member of the New Hampshire All-State Band for two years – being first in the state for Euphonium. Erick was a member of the Mission Club which worked on short-term mission trips to Puerto Rico his junior and senior year.  

Erick loves music and playing instruments. He plays the euphonium and trombone for Portsmouth Christian Academy’s Orchestra and Jazz Band while he also sings and plays guitar and piano for fun. Erick attends Lowell All Nations SDA Church and he is an active member as a treasurer, communications assistant, and AV assistant coordinator.  

Erick has received the Holy Rosary Credit Union Scholarship and Turbocam Cross Culture Scholarship as well as a Merit Scholarship, Hamel Scholars Award, Paul Scholars and Opportunity Scholarship Awards from the University of New Hampshire. 

Sam Belmonte

Samuel Belmonte is the son of Kevin and Kelly Belmonte and lives in York, Maine. Sam will be attending Grove City College in the fall to pursue a degree in Computer Science. He was also accepted at Cedarville University, Messiah University, and Lipscomb University. 

Sam has maintained highest honors status all four years of attending Portsmouth Christian Academy. Due to his academic rigor, in several courses he earned Highest GPA or Teacher’s Choice. He also served as Fine Arts Prefect in this year’s cohort of prefects, which is a select group of individuals who work to enhance specific areas of the school. Furthermore, he served as a small group leader in his Junior and Senior years of high school. 

Sam worked for NCS Global the summer going into Junior year. He has worked for the Portsmouth Christian Academy summer camp program and is also a respite provider for families with neurodiverse children. For volunteer work, the summers leading into his Freshman and Sophomore years he helped the IT department get ready for the next school year.

Sam attends Bethany Church and is an active member of the youth group there, serving on their student leadership team. He played soccer all four years of high school and baseball for three years. Sam has played trumpet since fourth grade, participating in Portsmouth Christian Academy’s Jazz Band and Symphony Orchestra all four years of high school. In his sophomore and junior years, he played his trumpet in the Pit Orchestra for the Spring musicals Little Women and Cinderella respectively. An active member of the school’s theatre program, Sam participated in Sketch Comedy Club throughout high school and in his senior year he had the privilege of performing as Albert in the Spring production of Newsies

Yanzhe (Jerry) Chen

Yanzhe (Jerry) Chen is the son of Zhiliang Chen and Kejin Zhu and an international student from Jiaxing, Zhejiang, China. Jerry will attend the Honors School at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the fall, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. Jerry also received a Chancellor Award scholarship at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Jerry was also accepted by Rutgers University. 

Jerry has maintained highest honors or high honors throughout his entire career at Portsmouth Christian Academy. He received the award of highest GPA in Biology, Intermediate English, and Teacher’s Choice Award Dual Enrollment Biology Lab. He was also a Teaching Assistant for Dual Enrollment Anatomy & Physiology. 

Jerry was on the Tennis team at Portsmouth Christian Academy for his whole career and received the Most improved Player award for two years. He was the leader of the Coding Club in his senior year and made a two-dimensional pixel video game with all the club members. He was also a member of the Audio/Video Club in his junior year. In addition, He assisted his Biology teacher with research on a type of Celastrus orbiculatus invasive plant called oriental bittersweet that has been a problem on campus. 

Dillon Fiske

Dillon Fiske is the son of George and Nina Fiske of Newmarket, NH. This fall, Dillon will be attending Merrimack College and will pursue a degree in Computer Science as part of their Honors Program. Dillon was also accepted at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of New Hampshire, Stonehill College, Saint Anselm’s College, Saint Michael’s College, Champlain College, and Gordon College. 

While attending Portsmouth Christian Academy, Dillon has maintained highest honors. He has received several Teacher’s Choice Awards and has earned Highest GPA in many courses. Outside of academics, Dillon participated in Orchestra, Quiz Bowl, the League of Extraordinary Gentleman, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Improv Club, and the Coding Club. Also, Dillon served as class secretary for the Student Government of the Senior Class.  

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dillon has volunteered at the Newmarket Community Church Thrift Shop and Portsmouth Christian Academy’s IT Department. In his free time Dillon enjoys traveling, 3D printing, and spending time with friends and family. Dillon has worked for Regal Cinemas for over a year.

Isaac Kohl

Isaac Kohl is the son of Waldemar and Ann Kohl of Hampton. Isaac will attend Colorado School of Mines in the fall and pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Isaac was also accepted to George Fox University, California Polytechnic Institute, and Gonzaga University. 

Isaac has maintained highest honors status while attending Portsmouth Christian Academy. Throughout the years, he has taken multiple AP courses, including AP Physics, AP Calculus and AP Spanish. Isaac was a captain for multiple varsity teams and several years of his athletic career. He was also a co-leader of the Missions Club, which served in Puerto Rico, and was an Academic Prefect. As a junior, Isaac received the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal Award for his excellence in STEM subjects. 

In addition to attending First Congregational Church of Kingston, Isaac is also a small group leader at his school. In his free time, he enjoys all types of outdoor activities, including snowboarding, hiking and surfing. Last summer, Isaac and his family traveled to Israel, where they learned about and visited places in the Bible. In college, Isaac plans to continue traveling and being a part of mission trips. He also looks forward to being involved in sports and clubs in Colorado. 

Yohan Koshy

Yohan Koshy is the son of Pramodh and Glory Koshy of Dover. Yohan has been attending Portsmouth Christian Academy for 15 years, starting in preschool and going through 12th grade. Yohan will be attending Wheaton College in the fall and will pursue a degree in Christian Formation and Ministry. He has received the Presidential Scholarship, the Wheaton Thunder Scholarship and the Provost Award at Wheaton College. Yohan was also accepted at Baylor University, Asbury University, Texas Christian University, and Liberty University. 

Yohan has maintained highest honors status while attending Portsmouth Christian Academy. Yohan was a part of the Orchestra for three years, where he played the saxophone, and the Jazz Band for two years, where he played the drums. Yohan played four years of Varsity Soccer and three years of Varsity Basketball, serving on both as a team captain during his senior year. Yohan hopes to continue playing sports throughout college and beyond.

During his senior year, Yohan served as one of the two Academic Prefects, in which he worked to strengthen the working environment amongst the Portsmouth Christian Academy community. Under this position, he helped run the Teachers Assistant Program, the Peer Tutoring Program, and more. Yohan was also a Teacher Assistant in the math department during his junior year. Yohan led the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club during his senior year and was also a small group leader during both his junior and senior year. Yohan was also a member of the Mission Club during his junior and senior year. 

Yohan attends Dover Baptist Church, where he serves on the worship team as a drummer. Yohan has also spent time volunteering at different places throughout his high school career, including Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, Partners for World Health, Southern Maine Health Care, and more. Yohan has traveled to many different parts of the world, and hopes to continue traveling in the future while also studying Christian ministry and evangelizing everyone he encounters.

Sam Sherman

Sam Sherman is the son of JD and Tara Sherman of York. Sam will be attending Boston University in the fall and will pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering.  

Sam has maintained highest honors status while attending Portsmouth Christian Academy. Sam was a member of the A/V club for two years. He also played in the school Orchestra for two years and the Jazz Band for one; he enjoys playing instruments, including piano, clarinet, trombone, and percussion. Sam was on the Mission Team serving in Puerto Rico in April 2023. He also played on the Portsmouth Christian Academy Tennis Team for three years.  

Outside of school, Sam attends St. Christopher Church in York. He has also worked at Eldredge Lumber and Hardware for the past two years. He has been a sailor and member of Agamenticus Yacht Club since he was eight years old. 

Ella Walsh

Ella Walsh is the daughter of William and Shana Walsh. Ella has attended Portsmouth Christian Academy since fifth grade. In the fall, she will be attending Arcadia University in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Ellawas accepted into their Accelerated Program for Forensic Science. For her first three years she will pursue a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry and the following two years she will pursue a Master’s in forensic science. 

Throughout high school, Ella played Varsity Soccer for all four years as the goalkeeper for Portsmouth Christian Academy. Due to her commitment and hard work, she was able to commit to playing soccer at Arcadia University. This has been her dream since she was a little girl and played a big role in choosing her school.
