Summer Reading

It’s summertime! The air is warm and the sun is bright, and students and teachers alike are excited to enjoy all the excitement of summer. Whether your family is heading off on family vacations or enjoying the summer from home, you may be wondering how to keep your child busy while also staying on track academically through the long break from school. Reading is one important way to continue the growth that students have achieved throughout the year. We recommend integrating reading into your child’s summer routine, whether it’s from a towel on the beach or from the couch before bedtime.

The below lists include age-appropriate book recommendations from the librarians at Portsmouth Christian Academy. There is something for every reader in the lists, so take a look and head to your local library to pick up some engaging summer reading with your child!

Note: Different books are appropriate for and appeal to different ages, reading levels, personalities and parents’ preferences. As always, please use your discretion in helping your child choose what to read.
