Record Breaking Track Season Continues
The PCA Varsity Track Team enjoyed a meet of “superlatives” at their recent Conference Championships. Coach Shevenell was expecting a “very good day” and was not disappointed. The track team came home with 4 Conference Championships and one Runner Up. This meet got off to an amazing start with the girls 4x800m relay team of Delaney Kjendal, Lily Kjendal, Elise Nanda & Liza Corso running a an extraordinary time. In route to winning and breaking the school record they came within 1 second of the All Time Division 3 State record in the 4x800m. Coach Shevenell describes this as the most intense performance he has ever seen by PCA Track athletes. Fiston Kapongo was a double winner in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles. Lily Kjendal won the 800m. In probably the greatest race of the meet Liza dueled for the entire 1600 and came in second. Her effort propelled her and the eventual winner to both break the 34 year old meet record.
Next week the team travels to the NHIAA Division 3 championships.
