Portsmouth Christian Academy Unveils New Website as Part of School’s Rebrand

DOVER, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Portsmouth Christian Academy (PCA) unveiled their new website as the final project in their multi-stage rebrand, including new logos and visual branding for the school and its athletic teams, and a newly-designed website.

As the school continues its 43rd year of operations, 23 of which have been held on its current campus in Dover, Marketing Manager, Nathan Paul, said it was time to freshen things up.

“We’re riding a 3-year wave of record-setting enrollment. We’re seeing that families have an increasing desire to provide a values-based education for their children. Our students, athletes, artists, and leaders are gaining more and more regional recognition across the Seacoast, from National Merit Scholarship winners to All-State and All-Region athletes and musicians. After 40-plus years of a variety of logos and school colors, we knew it was time to create a visual identity that we can really be proud of, and one that truly exemplifies the Christ-centered excellence that our students, staff, faculty, and families reflect on a daily basis.”

Beginning in the Fall of 2021, PCA’s Leadership Team met on a monthly basis to review initial concepts, determine the correct voice and feel of PCA’s new brand, then finalize the approved branding. The 6-month process featured a number of tough decisions, but Head of School, Mike Runey, provided the official stamp of approval on its current brand in May of 2022.

“PCA’s enduring values and history of serving Seacoast families continues in our updated branding.”, said Runey. “Our goal throughout this entire process has been to artistically and dramatically tell the ongoing and unfolding story of our students, faculty, and families. We aim to honor God and the amazing potential He has given each of us in everything we do. Through our refreshed language and images, we look to honor, motivate, and inspire this next generation of students & soon-to-be graduates to impact the world for good.”

The school has already begun rolling out its new logos, first unveiling the new brand to its faculty and staff at their end-of-year gathering this past June, then carrying out a month-long campaign to share the news with its community through print and digital platforms.

As the school continues to update physical signage and marketing materials, Portsmouth Christian Academy is also unveiling their new website, conceptualized and designed in partnership with a marketing agency that specializes in K-12 enrollment marketing.

In short, PCA’s rebrand contained 3 areas of focus:

Visual Identity: From logos to colors to fonts, each component of Portsmouth Christian Academy’s brand was designed to reflect our near-50-year history of sending out Christ-centered graduates who impact the world for good. From National Merit Scholarship Winners to All-State Athletes and All-State Musicians, our new brand exemplifies the excellent nature of our work at PCA, while staying true to our roots as a school that seeks to provide a Christian education to all families who desire one. The new logo package includes a new school shield with a wing soaring forward in the foreground, a modern and eye-catching Eagles Athletics logo, and a newly installed school crest, depicting 4 symbolic quadrants, representing the school’s faith, core values, commitment to academic excellence, and geographic location.

Storytelling and Consistent Messaging: The Core Leadership Team at PCA worked extensively on developing authentic and consistent messaging for the school’s internal and external audiences. Segmented into 4 areas, the school’s marketing messaging is centered largely around The Four C’s.

  • Developing Christian Character
  • Building a Compassionate Community
  • Delivering a Challenging Curriculum
  • Preparing Students to Answer Their Specific Calling

Redesigned Website: Portsmouth Christian Academy’s new website, found at pcaschool.org, is focused on providing prospective families with an improved user experience, combining the newly-released brand, value-added content, consistent menu structures, and improved search engine optimization and security.
