Portsmouth Christian Academy to Host Virtual Auction

Portsmouth Christian Academy (PCA) will host their 25th Annual Auction this year virtually in response to COVID-19.

The Annual Auction, PCA’s largest annual fundraiser to support the school’s Variable Tuition program, is a highlight event of the year for the school community. The generosity and enthusiasm of the PCA community raised $160,000 last year to benefit families who otherwise would not be able to send their children to PCA.

“With stay-at-home orders and social distancing recommendations, we did not want to lose the opportunity to gather as a community in support of Variable Tuition,” Head of School Mike Runey says. “The decision to move the auction to a virtual format allows us to continue to demonstrate compassionate community, which is one of our core values. It also gives us an opportunity to recapture this important community–building event under our current social distancing constructs.”

According to Elaina Russo, Director of Enrollment, “Variable Tuition allows families to apply for reduced tuition that is based on their unique financial situations. For families who qualify, our Variable Tuition program brings a PCA education within reach for those who may otherwise be unable to consider a private Christian education for their children.”

One family says, “Our son has benefited so much from his time at PCA. The Variable Tuition program has made this possible for him. We are happy to steward the financial blessings God has given us and make sacrifices as a family for our son’s education. But without Variable Tuition, even those sacrifices wouldn’t be enough.”

While bidding for auction items will take place online throughout the day on Saturday, a live stream portion of the auction will take place from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday morning. This portion, hosted by Mike Runey and Elaina Russo, will initiate the launch of bidding on premier auction items. In addition, there will be musical performances and testimonials from families who have been impacted by Variable Tuition.”

“Our hope is that the live stream will provide a virtual opportunity for engagement and community-building among PCA families, supporters, and the larger seacoast community,” says Dan Schmunk, PCA’s Director of Advancement.  All are welcome to join in participating in the Annual Auction. Items up for bid include concert tickets, vacation packages, photography packages, artwork, gift certificates, and more.
