PCA Students Go to Model UN at Plymouth State

Congratulations to our Eagles for their leadership and vision at Plymouth State University’s Model UN conference on April 14-15!

Shown above, l-r: sophomore Jim Zeng, juniors David Brackett, Riley Marelli, and Alexandra Cummins, freshman Isabella Baek, senior Hannah Voteur and sophomore Joseph Azarian. PCA’s Model UN club is advised by Mrs. Capern and Miss Weisberg and includes members Maggie Joyce, junior, and Justin Lahue, senior.

Representing various countries in simulated UN committees, students tackled complex issues like human trafficking, HIV/AIDS, and the crisis facing the Rohingya people in Myanmar and Bangladesh. All our students worked hard to prepare and contributed strongly and thoughtfully to the work of their respective committees. Juniors Alexandra Cummins and David Brackett both received the Outstanding Delegate awards in their committees, and freshman Isabella Baek received an Honorable Mention. These awards recognized their preparation, performance, and effective leadership through the entire process of discussion, negotiation, compromise, and crafting of resolutions.

A special Unsung Hero award to Mr. Troy Brackett, who drove the students safely to and from Plymouth, including a very icy Sunday morning trip!
