PCA First Graders Present “Good Good Father”
During the February 22 chapel service, Mrs. Trueira’s and Ms. Reny’s first-grade classes presented the play “Good Good Father” based on the children’s book by Chris Tomlin and Pat Barrett. A simple allegory for God’s love, “Good Good Father” tells the story of Tucker, a friendly bear who sought the help of the King.
With friends and family gathered in the PCA gymnasium to watch the play, Mr. Stevens, Director Fine Arts and Music teacher at PCA, accompanied the students and audience for several rounds of inspirational songs prior to the start of the play.
At the conclusion of the play the students demonstrated new sign language skills as they sang the song that inspired the book “ Good Good Father “ The classes were taught the signs for the song by Mrs. Hornbeck, PCA Lower School resource teacher. Ms. Reny commented, “Learning the signs really reinforced the idea that they are loved, no matter what, by our awesome God!”
The play is based on the book, “Good Good Father” co-written by Chris Tomlin, a Grammy Award winning musician and Pastor Pat Barrett. (The book is illustrated by Lorna Hussey)
The book was inspired by the #1 hit song “Good Good Father “written by Pastor Barret and recorded by Tomlin. The book is appropriate for ages 4-8.
