45 Years in the Making, 25 Years on our Dover, NH, Campus
Ranked “#1 Private K-12 School in New Hampshire” by Niche 2019, 2020 and 2021 Best Schools, Portsmouth Christian Academy (PCA) has been inspiring students on the seacoast to maximize their potential for forty years. PCA was founded in 1979 by Pastor Peter and Mrs. Bettie Miller and was originally called Bethel Christian Academy (BCA). Based in Portsmouth, NH, BCA served kindergarten through eighth grades.
In 1992, under the new leadership of then Headmaster Dennis Runey, the school changed its name to Portsmouth Christian Academy, and by 1995 expanded to include a high school. The first alumnus of PCA graduated in 1997 and the first full graduating class was in 1998. In 1999, PCA moved to the current Dover, NH campus where we added the gym and Upper School facilities. The new facilities in Dover also provided a wonderful venue for a preschool and the first PCAP Lions and Lambs joined the PCA family in the fall of that year.
In 2017, PCA completed work on a dock and began the expansion of the Waterfront Research Station and Outdoor Classroom, paving the way for establishing PCA as an Official Oyster Research Site.
To date, over 1100 PCA alumni are now making a difference across the globe in missions, finance, technology, and a wide range of other careers.
