Mondays with Mike: Navigating the Future
Welcome back to another edition of Mondays with Mike. We are starting the 3rd Quarter today and look forward to a growth-filled spring semester for your family at PCA.
As re-enrollment continues, we are ahead of where we have been over the last two years–that should be encouraging for all of us! In the 10 minute podcast (linked above), I describe how over the next year we will focus on five key areas. Below is a summary of key points I make highlighting how we strive for excellence through growth in various aspects of PCA.
- Academic Excellence: At PCA, we are committed to a growth-oriented mindset, believing that God calls us to continuous improvement. While we continue to reinforce our success in math growth, we are intensifying our efforts in reading, particularly during the transition from primary to elementary levels. Additionally, a focus on enhancing our middle school writing program and strengthening our science and technology offerings will empower students for future success.
- Cultivating Compassionate Community: Building and maintaining a compassionate community among students is a priority. Recognizing the importance of peer relationships, we aim to equip your sons and daughters with tools for navigating diverse personalities, resolving conflicts, and fostering a countercultural approach to living out their faith with each other in ways that a healthy and completely counter-cultural.
- Developing Servant Leaders: Our goal is to guide your children into becoming confident, joyful servant leaders—individuals who understand the significance of following before leading. From instilling empathy to practical encouragement, we want them to emerge as leaders who serve their peers and, eventually, impact the world for good through local, regional, and international missions.
- Outdoor Engagement: Taking advantage of our picturesque campus, we’re working to get students outdoors more frequently. Whether it’s enjoying recess, playing in the snow, or participating in sports, we recognize the value of being in God’s creation for social development and learning preparation.
- Investing in Educators: Behind the scenes, we have a dedicated group of Christian educators. Our commitment extends to their growth and development through resources, training, coaching, and feedback. By investing in our educators, we ensure a continuous cycle of inspiration and growth within our school community.
As we approach the State of the School address on February 8th, I invite you to join us at 2:00 PM at the Upper School. This event will provide a deeper reflection on our journey so far and offer more specifics on where we’re heading.
In closing, our commitment is to see your sons and daughters grow in faith, knowledge, and wisdom is not just limited to the coming year but for years to come. We look forward to partnering with you and God on this incredible journey!
Growth is often about trying challenging, new endeavors and pressing past one’s limits in faith and joy. These amazing students did just that recently in the Lower and Middle School Spelling Bee! They demonstrated remarkable preparation and growth as they touched levels of achievement that are truly commendable.
