Mondays with Mike: Missions Edition — Puerto Rico Service and More

Welcome to the first episode of a double-feature “Mondays With Mike.” Our goal is to bring you topics and voices of interest to our community and share with you where we have been, how God showed up, and where we are going.

There is nothing better than hearing directly from our students. In today’s first episode, listen to four of our students share their experiences on their recent Missions Club trip to Puerto Rico over spring break. Tatum, Connor, Rachel, and Noah are four of over 30 students who planned, prepared, and raised support to use their vacation time to go and minister to communities just outside of San Juan.

I am confident that you will be just encouraged and inspired as I was to hear their stories and get a small glimpse of their lives serving in Puerto Rico. Enjoy!

Youth on a Mission: Inspiring Stories of Service from a Missionary Trip to Puerto Rico

In a heartfelt conversation, “Youth on a Mission: Inspiring Stories of Service from a Missionary Trip to Puerto Rico” we hear from a group of inspiring young missionaries who narrate their transformative experiences on a service-oriented trip to Puerto Rico. By overcoming hurdles such as the language barrier, cultural differences, and physical work, these dedicated students share personal anecdotes about their journey and the profound impact it had on growth.

Relive glimpses of their experiences, from Rachel’s powerful connection with local citizens through prayer, Noah’s moment of conquering his struggle with Spanish, to Tatum’s joy in serving at a local school, and Connor’s humorous yet significant ‘Gringo Michael Jordan’ moment. Despite the different levels of Spanish education they’ve had, these young missionaries testify about how this journey led them to a better understanding of themselves and the world beyond their comfort zones. The discussion emphasizes the importance of prayer, community, overcoming challenges and transcending cultural and language barriers.

Their stories offer insight into the transformative power of service, and elucidates the themes of accountability, positive community impact, and the invaluable connections built through prayer. Learn about their fears of losing the profound impact of the journey with time, and how they plan to maintain the transformations that this service trip sparked in their lives. Their passion and commitment to service will inspire listeners to ponder upon the transformative power of service; not just to make a difference in the lives of others, but also to allow own lives to be changed for the better.
