Mondays with Mike: In Harmony–Celebrating Excellence and Faith with PCA’s All-State Musicians

Dear PCA Community,

As we enter the 2nd week of Advent, I hope and pray you are not only full of God’s Hope (our first week’s theme), but are seeking and finding God’s peace for you.

Christmas concerts are coming up, and we want to especially highlight the creative part of our program this week. Check out more on the concerts in the All-School Peek (every Thursday).

PCA also recently sent 12 scholar-musicians to audition for All-state; this is tremendous growing experience and a real testament to their hard work and preparation. This is also the largest number we have ever sent, reflecting the strength of PCA’s music program and the community. Eight of our musicians were selected, again a record number for us and a remarkable number for any high school program, much less a small school such as ours.

Join us as we delve into the inspiring musical journeys of five PCA students who recently were selected for this spring’s New Hampshire Musical All-State festival. These talented young musicians share their stories, revealing the years of practice, dedication, and passion that have led them to this prestigious selection.

4 Key Takeaways:

Inspiring the Next Generation
Our scholar-artists shared advice for younger musicians, emphasizing resilience, embracing challenges, and trusting the process. Chloe T. encouraged students to view auditions not as a measure of worth but as opportunities for growth. This message serves as motivation for aspiring musicians to pursue their passions with confidence and grace.

Dedication to Excellence and Growth
Each musician highlighted the immense dedication required to prepare for Allstate auditions, often balancing hours of practice with schoolwork and other commitments. This underscores the importance of perseverance, discipline, and seeking personal growth through challenges.

The Transformative Power of Music and Faith
Many students shared how music serves as both a discipline and a spiritual calling. For example, Anna expressed how singing became an act of glorifying God, realizing her voice is a gift to be used for His glory. This connection between faith and creativity emphasizes PCA’s mission of integrating spiritual development with talents.

Community and Collaboration
The musicians reflected on the unique bond formed through shared experiences, whether in preparation for auditions or supporting each other during stressful moments. Chloe D.’s insights into teamwork—encouraging peers and giving constructive feedback—highlight the value of mutual support and collaboration.
