Mondays with Mike: Auction Stories that Inspire

This week’s Monday’s with Mike is a celebration of God’s provision, community, and generosity following the 30th Annual PCA Auction—and what a celebration it is! Our Sponsor-a-Child initiative not only met but surpassed its $100,000 match, raising an incredible $156,410 to help make a PCA education possible for more families.

Our bold prayer was that our incredible community would provide $350,000 toward supporting families through Variable Tuition. While the final counting is still going on, and some families are still giving, I can share that God–through you, our PCA community–has exceeded our hope and prayers. Total giving this year is over $350,000–Thank you!

But beyond the numbers, this event was a powerful reminder that God multiplies our efforts, our time, and our generosity in ways we can’t always see.
The Auction’s Heartbeat: Stories of Faith and Gratitude While the auction is a massive undertaking, it’s fueled by real people—parents, volunteers, and staff whose lives have been deeply touched by PCA.

Liz Lajoie’s Story

Liz and her family first toured PCA when her eldest was entering kindergarten, but at the time, they weren’t sure they could afford it. A few years later, they heard about PCA’s variable tuition program, and thanks to the generosity of donors, they were able to enroll. Grateful for the opportunity, Liz began volunteering—first with small roles, then with the auction. Now, as a staff member helping run the event, she finds deep joy in seeing new families blessed the way hers once was. She recalls attending her first PCA auction, not knowing much about Sponsor-a-Child, and watching her husband, with tears in his eyes, lift his paddle to support another family.

Kirsten Schultz’s Story

Kirsten’s journey is similar. She and her daughter, now in 6th grade, were able to attend PCA because of the very funds that the auction raises each year. She started volunteering right away, wanting to give back and ensure that other families could have the same opportunity. Now, as a key part of the auction team, she designs marketing materials, signage, and graphics—helping bring the vision to life. Yet for her, the most moving moment of every auction is still the Sponsor-a-Child portion, when she sees hands raised, one after another, in faith and generosity.

Beyond the Bids: The Power of Community
✅ A Joyful and Generous Spirit – Over 60 volunteers worked behind the scenes, from organizing class gifts to setting up tables, all with a shared heart to serve.

✅ More Than a Fundraiser – This event isn’t just about financial support—it’s a celebration of PCA’s mission, a reminder that we’re building something together.

✅ Looking Ahead – The auction team is already brainstorming how to make future events even more welcoming and inclusive, ensuring that all PCA families—regardless of their ability to bid—can be part of this special day.

Reflecting on the event, Mike shared:

“This event is a tangible reminder of how God provides through His people. Whether you gave financially, volunteered, or simply prayed over this event, you played a role in something bigger than any of us.”
