Kindergarten Studies the Life Cycle of the Monarch Butterfly

Last week, the kindergarten students shared a special moment when they released their monarch butterflies.
For the past 16 years, PCA alumna Emily Wilson (Class of 2014) has brought caterpillars at the beginning of the school for the kindergartners’ Life Cycle unit. The students were able to study the “changes that never change” of the insect from caterpillar to chrysalis to adult monarch. Releasing the butterfly was a bittersweet moment but a fine example of how our school encourages concept-based learning, beginning at the primary grade levels.
