Jim Jin

Jim is an international student from China. Check out his story in his native language and in English.

What do you love about PCA?

Because it is a religious school, everyone here is kind and generous. They always are patient to solve your question and always share love from God.

Who is one of your favorite teachers? Describe why he/she is a favorite.

Mrs. Shevenell (Chemistry teacher). I am not student  that is good at chemistry, so from the beginning I was afraid of my weak fundamental knowledge in class. But she is so kind and patient, and willing to answer all my questions. Also she gives me encouragement in the class.

In what ways have you grown (spiritually, academically, and/or developmentally) as a result of your experience at PCA?

From the beginning, I was too shy to make friends with Americans… but everyone here is so nice and enthusiastic, so I grew a lot. I also made a lot of foreign friends.

PCA’s mission is to “Honor God joyfully my inspiring students to maximize their God-given potential.” How do you experience this mission at PCA?

Teacher’s kindness and patience and the school’s amazing activities give us enough space to explore ourselves and direct us in a correct way.

How do you feel that PCA is preparing you for graduation, college, and life?

The AP classes are challenging and teachers do a great job in teaching class. Besides that, a ton of activities also make us get used to college life instead of only focusing on academics.

What makes PCA different from other schools in our area?

The school is not as big as some other schools, but also because of it the connection between students and teachers is close. The atmosphere of studying is nice.

What opportunities do you experience at PCA that you don’t think you would have gotten to experience anywhere else?

Because it is a Christian school and my host family is Christian, it is a good opportunity for me to learn about the religion and get to know and respect the diversity of a national climate.

Is there anything else you would like to share about your experience at PCA?

The chapels that we have three times a week offer a good opportunity for us to learn and get to know more about Christianity and to see how the belief changes people’s life which is unforgettable.

Mrs. Shevenell(化学老师)
