Student Feature Angel, Junior Class

What do you love about Portsmouth Christian Academy?
I love that I’m surrounded by God-loving teachers and friends who care about me and my walk with God. I also feel very safe to proclaim my faith and announce that I am a Christian. Moreover, it is okay to strive for excellence in academics without being judged or called a nerd.

Describe one of your favorite teachers and tell why he/she is a favorite.
Mr. Snyder is my favorite. He is an awesome math teacher who tries his best every day to help everyone to understand math. It’s not that easy to teach math and expect everybody to be on the same page, but Mr. Snyder would not give up on explaining a math question to a confused student until it is as clear as possible. He made math class so fun. He has been my math teacher since freshman year to now. More than just a good math teacher, his everyday actions represent him well as a Christian.

In what ways have you grown (spiritually, academically and/or developmentally) as a result of your experience at PCA?
Since coming to PCA, I have definitely grown closer to God. I can’t imagine what my faith in God would be like if I chose to go to other high schools that I have applied to. I really cannot believe how much I have grown. One of the most obvious examples is the worship team. Freshman year, I had the desire to join the worship team, so I joined. I play the drums, so I always stayed in the back, hiding behind people, and I’m happy with that. Then I saw the worship team leader in the front calling the whole school to worship, and I’m like that’s amazing, but I’ll never be brave enough to do it. Now I’m a Junior and a worship leader. I can’t believe God has brought me this far. PCA also gave me the opportunity to develop into a leader. For academics, I learned how to manage my time well, and plan for the future.
