Alumni Stories – Julie Pease ’13
Julie is a class of 2013 graduate of Portsmouth Christian Academy.
Up until college, PCA was the only school I’d ever known. I started going to PCA in 1999, the same year that Portsmouth Christian Academy moved to Dover. It was a family affair, with every person in my immediate family either attending or working at PCA at some point in my 13 years there. Because of that, PCA was in many ways a second home to me, and I quite literally grew up at the school. The teachers of PCA were quick to encourage me in my development as a person and as a Christian. This encouragement was instrumental in helping me forge the path to where I am now, serving as a nurse at a home for vulnerable and exploited women and children in Quito, Ecuador.
“The PCA staff have always been fiercely supportive of my journey to become the person God created me to be.”
From career day with Mrs. Brown in Kindergarten, where I said I wanted to be a pastor like my dad, to my first mission-trip with Mrs. Watson in high school, the PCA staff have always been fiercely supportive of my journey to become the person God created me to be. Life can be a bumpy ride, but I will forever be grateful to PCA for the lessons I learned both personally and academically. Yes, I was extremely well-prepared for the transition to college academically, but the solid Biblical foundation I received at PCA has served me just as well as I continue to grow as a person and in my spiritual life. PCA is not perfect (no school is) but it was the perfect environment for me to thrive, mostly thanks to the incredible staff and faculty there, and I cannot thank PCA enough for its influence on
