What Happened in Athletics this Fall?
The fall sports season at PCA was filled with remarkable achievements and memorable moments, with six out of eight teams finishing with winning records and all varsity teams qualifying for the playoffs. Women’s Soccer and Varsity Volleyball reached the Final Four, while JV Volleyball celebrated a major victory by winning the Division III tournament. Men’s Cross Country and 7th-grader Elizabeth S. earned spots in the prestigious Meet of Champions, and both middle school volleyball teams made the playoffs, with Varsity advancing to the Final Four. These accomplishments reflected the hard work, resilience, and determination of our athletes and coaches.
Varsity Volleyball overcame significant challenges to reach the Final Four, with Quinn Arico earning First Team All-State honors, being named Granite State Conference Player of the Year, and signing to play at Gordon College. Heidi Geyer and Emma Eisner were also recognized with Second Team and Honorable Mention All-State honors, respectively. The program’s success was further highlighted by Kevin Carreiro being named D3 Varsity Volleyball Coach of the Year and Maddy Jordan receiving the D3 JV Volleyball Coach of the Year award. Women’s Soccer showcased their grit and competitiveness, with Tatum Smith and Sophia Workman earning First Team All-State recognition and Jaela Stockbower named to the Second Team All-State. Tatum Smith made history as the first PCA soccer player selected for the Senior NH All-Star Team for the Lions Cup, where she will represent New Hampshire against Vermont next summer.
Men’s Soccer exemplified teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the season, with Bennett Money earning Honorable Mention All-State. In Cross Country, the Men’s team’s dedication led them to the Meet of Champions, where Christian Barnes was named to the D3 All-State Team and honored as Granite State Conference Runner of the Year. Middle school teams also had a strong season, with both volleyball teams reaching the playoffs and the boys’ soccer team demonstrating impressive teamwork despite losing their top player from the previous year.
Congratulations to all the athletes, coaches, and supporters for an exceptional fall season that reflected the school’s commitment to excellence and character.
Fine Arts Achievements this Fall
The Fine Arts department at PCA had an exciting and vibrant start to the 2024-2025 school year, offering students a platform to explore creativity, share their gifts, and enrich the culture of the school community. This fall was packed with achievements, including new course offerings, successful theatre productions, and statewide recognition. The addition of new music courses—Music Theory, Music History, Upper School Worship Class, and Middle School Worship Class—has expanded opportunities for students to deepen their musical knowledge and express their creativity through worship and performance.
The fall theatre production, Farms, Friendships, and Folly, was a resounding success with three sold-out performances. Both Charlotte’s Web (Grades 4-8) and The One Act Play That Goes Wrong (Grades 9-12) brough delight to the audiences in November. Parent volunteers were instrumental in ensuring the production ran smoothly. The theatre program continues to foster a sense of community and accomplishment among students.
PCA students also shone at the All-State Festival auditions, with eight students being accepted out of twelve who auditioned. Simeon Howard, a standout talent, achieved the highest score for cello in the state. These students will represent PCA at the All-State Festival in Concord, NH, in April.
This year also saw a restructuring of Christmas concerts to better align programs and highlight students’ musical growth. These recently concluded events provided families and friends an opportunity to witness the dedication and talent of PCA’s fine arts students.
The Fine Arts department plays a key role in maximizing students’ God-given potential, aligning with PCA’s mission to inspire and support academic and personal growth. From art shows and chapels to concerts and theatre productions, PCA fine arts students continue to thrive, contributing to a vibrant and supportive school community. The Fine Arts department is poised for an inspiring winter and spring season.
The fall season at PCA was a testament to the strength, dedication, and talent of our students, coaches, and faculty.
