Spain and France Trip 2019
PCA students returned safely on April 30 after an exciting ten-day excursion to France and Spain. The trip was arranged and lead by Mrs. Eisner. PCA Upper School Spanish teacher. Mr. Miller, Upper School Librarian, was also a chaperone for the trip of twelve Upper School students.
The students spent their first three days in and around Paris visiting landmarks such as the Eiffel tower and the Louvre, a perfume factory in Versailles. In addition to the joy of seeing the historical and sacred architectural buildings and monuments of Paris, the students found time to enjoy Parisian restaurants, shops, cafes and patisseries.
From Paris, the group took the high-speed train to Barcelona and started off with a tour of the city including a stop at the Sagrada Familia. At the food market, students participated in fun activities including one where they led their blindfolded partners through the market, guiding them to use their senses to find their way . The group also visited Park Guell by Gaudi, the Picasso Museum, and went on a bike tour.
They also had a day trip excursion to Toledo.
Madrid was the group’s last stop where the group had a walking tour of Madrid on the first day which included a stop for lunch (or amazing ice cream) at Mercado San Miguel. In Madrid the group visited the Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real de Madrid, Prado Museum (Museo del Prado) which was celebrating two hundred years.
The chaperones agreed that the students were a true blessing. The schedule was busy but the students enjoyed their time bonding and exploring as a group.
According to Mrs. Eisner, “I love the opportunity to watch students experience new cultures for the first time and recognize the similarities and differences to their own culture. The students on this trip made the experience even better with their mature behavior and the interest they showed in the tours led by our director and the local guides.”
Many thanks to Joy Esiner, Katherine Armello and other PCA students for providing photos of the trip.
