PCA Welcomes Amy St. John as New Volunteer, Alumni & Events Coordinator
Portsmouth Christian Academy is pleased to welcome Amy St. John into a new role as PCA’s Volunteer, Alumni, and Events Coordinator, where she will help strengthen connections among alumni, families, volunteers, and the broader PCA community.
Having already been part of the PCA community for four years as Upper School Administrative Assistant, Amy steps into the position with a strong understanding of the relationships and shared commitment that make PCA special.
“I am incredibly excited to be accepting the role of Volunteer, Alumni, and Event Coordinator,” Amy said. “Having been part of the PCA community for 4 years, I have witnessed firsthand the strong relationships, servant-hearted culture, and commitment to Christ-centered education that make this school so special.”
In her new role, Amy will oversee three important areas of community engagement at PCA: volunteer services, alumni connections, and event support.
A significant part of her work will focus on strengthening PCA’s growing alumni community. Amy will connect and reconnect with graduates, celebrate alumni milestones and accomplishments, support reunions, and create new opportunities for alumni to remain involved in the life of the school. She will also work to bring alumni stories back to campus, helping current students and families see the impact PCA graduates are making in their communities and beyond.
“What excites me most about this role is the opportunity to foster meaningful engagement among volunteers, alumni, students, families, and the larger PCA community,” Amy said. “I believe that every person connected to PCA has a unique story and contribution to share, and I look forward to creating opportunities for those relationships to grow and flourish.”
Amy will also lead PCA’s volunteer program, connecting parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of PCA with opportunities to serve in ways that match their interests and can make a meaningful impact on the school. From recruiting and coordinating volunteers to celebrating their contributions, Amy will help ensure that those who give their time to PCA feel welcomed, valued, and connected to the mission they are supporting.
Her work will extend to many of the events that bring the PCA community together throughout the year, including Homecoming, Grandparents’ Day, the Auction, Teacher Appreciation Week, Commencement, the Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, and other traditions and gatherings across campus.
“Amy understands that this position is about much more than coordinating events—it’s about creating opportunities for people to reconnect with PCA and with one another,” said Carrie Conway, PCA’s Director of Development. “Her heart for our school, combined with her organizational skills and relational approach, makes her an exceptional fit for this role.”
Conway said Amy’s natural ability to build relationships will be especially valuable as PCA looks to deepen its connections with alumni and volunteers.
“What makes Amy such a strong fit is her ability to connect with people. She is warm, organized, dependable, and genuinely interested in others. She will be able to cultivate meaningful relationships with our alumni, families, volunteers, and friends of PCA while creating experiences that keep people connected to our school.”
That relational focus is at the heart of Amy’s vision for the position. Whether welcoming a volunteer to campus for the first time, reconnecting with a graduate who has been away for years, or helping create an experience that brings PCA families together, her goal is to strengthen the relationships that make PCA a community extending well beyond a student’s years on campus.
“I am also excited about the chance to celebrate the legacy of Portsmouth Christian Academy while helping create memorable experiences for current and future generations,” Amy said. “I look forward to working alongside dedicated faculty, staff, volunteers, alumni, and supporters as we continue to invest in the lives of students and build a vibrant, connected community.”
For Amy, the new role is both an opportunity to build for the future and to celebrate the people who have helped shape PCA throughout its history.
“I am grateful for this opportunity and excited for what lies ahead,” she said. “I look forward to learning, growing, and serving in this new capacity while helping others feel welcomed, valued, and connected to the PCA community.”
