PCA visits Google
Cheri Wilson, computer teacher at Portsmouth Christian Academy, spent a day of her February Vacation at Google’s Boston Headquarters. She was offered one of the coveted 200 spaces offered to educators to attend the first Edtech Teacher Google Jamboree. She spent the day learning about technology available to educators through Google and got a glimpse of their fast-paced world.
On returning to PCA, Cheri said, “I was most impressed by how easy it was to use the technology showcased. Google has worked hard to make sure that educators and students can use the technology they provide. I was able to participate in two workshops – one on Google apps and extensions and the other on Google Classroom. I left with a small sample of apps and extensions that I can begin to use in the computer lab.”
“It’s important to get students started with technology and working collaboratively. I came home with a desire to hone my vision for technology use at PCA, beginning with the tools we have. Students shouldn’t fear technology, but be able to use the tools available to them to create, research, communicate, and collaborate.”
