Go Eagles!

Brook Capello, Head Softball Coach at Newbury College, speaks to PCA’s Softball team.

Last Saturday, Newbury College head softball coach, Brook Capello, attended the Upper School Girls Softball workout to recruit and address the team. Coach Capello spoke to the girls about what it takes to be a college athlete, the recruiting process, and the schedule of a college softball player. She was impressed with our girls, congratulated them on making the state championship game last year, and plans to attend some PCA games and continue to recruit PCA softball players. This was an exciting and informative time for the team. We are eagerly anticipating the spring softball season.

Relay team

Congratulations to our Boys Winter Track Distance Medley Relay Team for breaking the school’s recent in their recent track meet! The quartet of Jack Longo (Sophomore), Tommy Longo (Senior), Jeremy Johnson (Junior), and Zach Hartman (Sophomore) broke the previous school record by 5 seconds. Coach Shevenell noted that the team hopes to be able to improve on this record again next year as this relay team will be losing only one athlete to graduation.

Congratulations to Ryan McGovern who broke his school record in the shot put in two separate meets this weekend, and to Peter Taylor who extended his school record in the long jump.

PCA basketball teams had a clean sweep this past weekend! Both the varsity girls and boys cruised to easy wins at home on Friday night against Lin-Wood. Then on Saturday our JV teams traveled to Pittsfield.  The girls pulled out an overtime victory, and the boys won by 4.  Nice job to all!

The PCA gymnastics team competed at Pinkerton Academy last night. Lyndsey Longo had her highest score on floor and it was her first time ever competing her new routine! Rocky’s highest score of the evening was on vault, and she improved her all around score by 1.4! Dasia James increased her score on floor alone by 1.6!
